On Thursday 12th November the GAI Education awards were held at the Lancaster Hotel in Hyde Park, London.

The event celebrated this year’s GAI diploma holders and the outstanding examination results achieved this year. A number of Laidlaw employees attended the event including Peter O’Brien, David May, Stuart Griffiths, Andy Fitzgerald, Trevor Walker, Garry Brooks and Paul Ferguson.

A few employees collected their GAI level 3 diploma certificates including Trevor Walker, Garry Brooks and Paul Ferguson. Trevor Walker had a great personal achievement by winning 3rd prize for his year and Garry Brooks won 4th prize overall.

Andy Fitzgerald, Head of Corporate Accounts at Laidlaw Ironmongery and chairman of the education committee delivered a speech on the success of this year’s students. He also discussed how the GAI programme is now becoming increasingly popular overseas to the extent that 45% of this year’s students were from outside of the UK. At the event, special guest and leading media personality Janet Street Porter delivered a speech on her career in the media industry. During the event, she also discussed how she enjoyed a lifelong passion for architecture and the built environment.

Overall, the event was a great success and a special well done to this year’s diploma holders who have committed to enhancing their knowledge of the industry and applying themselves to learn.
