CE Marking standards & legislation

CE marking is applicable only to those products where the BS EN standard has been harmonised under the Construction Products Regulation. As of July 1st 2013 if a product falls within the scope of a harmonised EN standard, it must be CE marked before it can be made available on the market.

For Ironmongery the standards that fall into the harmonised category are:

BS EN 1155 – ‘Electrically Powered Hold Open Devices’ – covers Electromagnetic door closers & floor springs

BS EN 1935 – ‘Single Axis Hinge’

BS EN 1158 – ‘Door Co-ordinators’
