CE marking is applicable only to those products where the BS EN standard has been harmonised under the Construction Products Regulation. As of July 1st 2013 if a product falls within the scope of a harmonised EN standard, it must be CE marked before it can be made available on the market.
For Ironmongery the standards that fall into the harmonised category are:
BS EN 1154 – ‘Controlled Door Closing Devices’ covers all mechanical door closers & floor springs
BS EN 1155 – ‘Electrically Powered Hold Open Devices’ – covers Electromagnetic door closers & floor springs
BS EN 1935 – ‘Single Axis Hinge’
BS EN 1158 – ‘Door Co-ordinators’
BS EN 1125 – ‘Panic Exit Devices’
BS EN 179 – ‘Emergency Exit Devices’
BS EN 12209 – ‘Mechanically Operated Locks & Latches’
BS EN 14846 – ‘Electromechanically Operated Locks &
Striking Plates’
