Clippers Quay is a collection of 614 apartments across five individually themed buildings in Salford Quays, Manchester. The £14m project is the largest privately rented development outside of London, with up to 11 storeys per building. The development is equipped with a 24-hour gym, a cinema room, dining suite and co-working spaces.

Laidlaw supplied architectural ironmongery for communal areas as well as individual apartments.

The Solution

Laidlaw supplied a full suite of architectural ironmongery to the project, totalling over 20,000 products across the development. Products supplied ranged from intumescent seals and fire door signs to door closers and bathroom locks. The Orbis 600 range was primarily used for the development and all items were finished in satin stainless steel, for a cohesive and modern look.

Laidlaw’s expertise in the apartment living sector provides assurance that all products are of the highest quality, compliant with the Equality Act, and fit with the aesthetic of the buildings.

How Laidlaw Helped

With over 20,000 items being delivered to the Clippers Quay site, working out which products should be affixed to which door could be a momentous task. Laidlaw created a package for each apartment and communal area, which then contained smaller packages dedicated to individual doors, all clearly labelled with door and apartment numbers. This is all part of the service provided by Laidlaw. Not only does this reduce any risk of incorrectly placed items, but it also makes installation quicker, simpler and smoother.

In addition, packages were delivered directly to site by a member of the Laidlaw team, which guaranteed the delivery was on site before the working day started for the installers. This ensured that the development remained on schedule with no time wasted waiting for deliveries.
