Overview
Clippers Quay is a collection of 614 apartments across five of individually themed buildings in Salford Quays, Manchester. The £14m project is the largest privately rented development outside of London, with up to 11 storeys per building. The development is equipped with a 24-hour gym, a cinema room, dining suite and co-working spaces.
In total, Laidlaw supplied two master key suites which span 446 Orbis cylinders throughout the five-block development, all with a satin nickel finish.
The Solution
A master key system establishes a hierarchy of access, allowing certain keys to operate more than one cylinder. This allows residents and facilities employees to have varying levels of access to different areas within the building. This solution ensures the building is safe and secure at all times.
The first master key system comprises 300 cylinders with individual keys, giving residents access to their apartment only. However, apartments are operable by an overriding master key, which gives access to all 300 cylinders.
The remaining 146 cylinders were supplied as a control key suite, encompassing of 5 sub-suites and numerous pass groups, all of which were controlled by one overriding master key. The sub-suites and pass groups contain different combinations including communal areas, employee offices and access to apartments.
